Alan Soutar answered 'Tungsten Tales' 8 Quickfire Ally Pally Questions in the build up to this years PDC World Darts Championship and the Scotsman's witty personality shone throughout.
Last year was very successful for Soutar as he made it to the last 16 in his first ever time at the major where he fell just short against Callan Rydz, In the interview he speaks about his favourite moment in the tournament.
“I probably have two because I’ve had two big checkouts. The 144 against Mensur [Suljovic] to win the match and the 136 against Jose [De Sousa] to win that match. So it probably has to be those two checkouts because of the absolute adrenaline flow that goes through your body after them is tremendous.”
Soots hasn't had it easy this year in terms of getting his qualification to make it to Alexandra Palace, he references the increase in difficulty compared to last year.
“Very tough, over the last couple of months I secured Ally Pally with good runs on the Pro Tour. It’s been a lot harder than the first year. The first year I had it easy but this year has been a lot, lot harder.”
The Palace is well known for its atmosphere at this time of the year. However certain people may get mixed responses when playing in front of the crowd- this is how Soutar described the Alexandra Palace crowd.
“Anti-Scottish… its actually ruckus and football crowd like but I don’t mind it.”
However the 42 year old is going to have to not let the crowd affect him to much if his hopes to be a finalist become a reality.
“I think you can’t look passed MVG he’s the man in form and the man on form in the TV majors . If it’s a Soot’s VS MVG final that would be perfect.”
