Anderson wins first Players Championship event of the season

Gary Anderson claimed victory in the first Players Championship of the year. The Flying Scotsman defeated Jeff Smith in the final.

Anderson, who has thrown 4 100+ averages in his 7 games today, started leading 2-1 and eventually 3-2, before he claimed three legs in a row to become 6-2 up. Jeff Smith was able to nick two legs, before Anderson became the first Pro Tour champion of the year with an 8-4 victory.

The Flying Scotsman beated the likes of Adrian Lewis, Joe Cullen, Rob Cross and Gerwyn Price on his way to the final to claim his 49th PDC ranking title.
