Clayton returns to action with 111 average in Hempel win, Smith, Wright and Cross all through Players Championship 17 openers

The final day of action this week in Niedernhausen has began with Jonny Clayton returning after losing in the Premier League Darts semi-finals to Joe Cullen with an incredible 111 average at Players Championship 17.

Clayton saw off Florian Hempel 6-0 to move through with the German averaging 102 but not getting a leg in the tie. While also there was victories for yesterday's champion, Michael Smith who saw off Nathan Girvan 6-4.

Peter Wright averaged only 84 but did not suffer the same fate as yesterday moving through in a 6-5 win. While Luke Humphries, Danny Noppert, Rob Cross, Damon Heta and Jose de Sousa are also through.

Dirk van Duijvenbode seemed to carry on from his final defeat yesterday smashing Robert Owen 6-0 with a 109 average to open his account also.
