Gabriel Clemens scored an excellent victory in the first round of the
Belgian Darts Open. He eliminated Graham Usher 6-0.
In the post-match interview, he expressed his delight at this victory. "Normally Graham is a fantastic player. He has had a lot of good matches on tour and I am very happy with this win."
In the second round, the 'German Giant' will meet world number one Peter Wright. Clemens' record against the Scot is a very positive 4-2 for the German. Clemens had no idea he had a positive record against the Scot. "Really, yes, well... Let's make it 5-2 then!"
Clemens played against Usher in the afternoon session, but still in front of a full house. "For a Friday afternoon, it's great. I was here last year on Saturday and I hope this year it's the same (on Saturday) as last year."
Finally, Clemens praised the Belgian audience. "I have to say that Belgium has some of the fairest fans on the tour. It is excellent. All the players enjoy playing in front of this audience."
