Czech qualifier spoils Gary Anderson's European Tour return, Clemens defeats Van Veen in decider

Gary Anderson was unable to grace his return to the European Tour with a victory. The Scot surprisingly went down against Roman Benecky in the first round at the Dutch Darts Championship.

Anderson was playing his first European Tour tournament since 2016 in Leeuwarden. However, 'The Flying Scotsman' had a mediocre performance and lost 6-2 to the Czech qualifier.

Gian van Veen failed to win in front of his own crowd against Gabriel Clemens. The German beat him 6-5. Ian White booked a 6-2 victory over Arron Monk earlier in the evening.
