Damon Heta and
Dave Chisnall have qualified for the semi-finals at the
European Darts Open. The Australian and the Englishman will take on each other later this evening at the Euro Tour tournament in Leverkusen.
Heta looked to be heading for a convincing victory against
Stephen Bunting. He took a 5-1 lead after six legs, after Heta managed to throw three 14-darters and a 12-darter. However, Bunting still fought his way back into the match.
With a 12-darter and a 120 finish, 'The Bullet' reduced the deficit to 5-3. After Heta missed a matchdart in the tenth leg, Bunting even came back to 5-5. The Englishman was then allowed to start the last leg, but could not finish in five turns. Heta did and became the first semi-finalist.
Heta's numbers were excellent, with an average of 100.62 and a finishing percentage of 43 per cent. It was also a special win for Heta, as it was his 50th win ever on the European Tour.
In the semi-final match, Heta will take on Chisnall, who was too strong for
Ryan Searle. A 135 finish in the third leg gave 'Heavy Metal' a 2-1 lead, but he lost that break in the sixth leg.
Chisnall then failed to keep his own leg and was again broken by Searle, who then managed to make it 5-3 with a 17-darter. Chisnall showed resilience again and came back to 5-5 with two 15-darters before taking the last leg himself. A 16-darter gave Chizzy the win.
