De Sousa lauds praise on Humphries after European Championship win: "He has such talent"

Jose de Sousa defied five ton plus checkouts to get past Luke Humphries in a 10-8 victory after an entertaining clash on Saturday at the European Championship.
De Sousa produced a 123 checkout after Humphries wired a 170 which he admitted was a turning point.
"It's amazing for me to make the quarter-finals here," said De Sousa. "Playing against Luke is always difficult - he has such talent.
"The 123 was a special moment from the Special One! I think it was crucial. I'm very happy that I'm through and I hope in the next round I can play my best game."

- I agree. There needs to be a points system and preferably just a rolling one year. World Championship should earn the most points though it can be argued that the current qualification system does see a fair few players qualify from regional country qualifiers who would struggle to hold down a place on the Pro Tour. If prize money won is going to remain as the determining factor for ranking then the World Championship should just consist of the 128 Tour Card Holders. Another option would be to take the World Championship out of the rankings and have it as the stand alone pinnacle that you qualify for by winning certain tournaments or your ranking position, sort of like a GSOD+.Mysstree05-04-2025
