25-year-old Dean Reynolds has reached the last 16 for the first time thanks to a win over Harris that only provided fleeting glimpses of quality. The 12th seed averaged 81 while Harris only managed 76, a tiny improvement on the 75.22 he notched up in the preliminary round. Reynolds quickly went 2-0 up, but Harris bounced back to win the third set against the darts. The qualifier needed to stay strong on throw but fell well short of the standard needed. Reynolds stepped up to wrap up victory in swift fashion.
The scoring was nothing to write home about, but the Cardiff ace enjoyed a decent day on the doubles. His doubles success rate was an impressive 59 per cent. Reynolds' top checkout of 100 was slightly eclipsed by Harris, who managed a 104.
