VIDEO: Edgar assesses whether professional dart players can play with both hands

Darts as a sport is one of only a few where you mostly use your dominant hand for your throwing action and this was something Matthew Edgar assessed in his latest Edgar TV video.

Edgar looked at how different sports compared to darts in terms of switching and also discussed a future challenge which will see him play a pub player with only his non dominant throwing arm.

"Often we think of sport especially in professional sport, we often think of the symmetry. In terms of you got to the gym, you don't just train the right arm, you train both so you're working both sides," said Edgar.

"The same with things like football, we have a more dominant foot which is often the right but we train the left as well so we have a level of competency.

"We don't really need to use both hands unless we get an injury on our throwing arm and then we switch."

Edgar sent out 15 texts to dart players including Luke Humphries and Ryan Searle to ask how they get an playing with their non dominant throwing hand and all said rubbish barring a small competency.
