German teenager Schmutzler qualifies for PDC World Darts Championship after sensational debut weekend on Development Tour

Fabian Schmutzler surprisingly took the PDC World Darts Championship spot which was on offer during the final weekend of the European Development Tour.

As number two in the final Order of Merit, he receives an invite for Ally Pally due to number one, Rusty-Jake Rodriguez already being qualified through the ProTour.

The 16-year-old only made his Development Tour debut this weekend. The German was still fifteen when the first six tournaments were played and was therefore too young at the time.

On Friday he immediately made his debut with a place in the final and on Saturday he won a tournament. On Sunday afternoon, the 16-year-old German won another European Development Tour tournament, taking over second place from Geert Nentjes. His second place was no longer in danger during the closing tournament of the Development Tour.

After Gabriel Clemens, Florian Hempel and Martin Schindler, Schmutzler is the fourth German participant in the upcoming World Championship.
