It was a great weekend for Belgian darts. On Sunday night
Mike De Decker crowned a wonderful tournament with the overall victory at the
World Grand Prix. In the final he was 6-4 too strong for Luke Humphries. But not only De Decker was successful, in the youth category the barely 13-year-old Lex Paeshuyse gave a great performance.
For De Decker, it was the week of his definitive breakthrough at the top. The 28-year-old Belgian, who used to be mainly known as an excellent player on the floor, now also showed his enormous talent on the stage. Thanks to his final victory, De Decker has now climbed to 25th place in the world rankings.
But there was more success to come for Belgium because, as mentioned, Paeshuyse won the Winmau World Masters in the youth category. In the final of this prestigious
WDF tournament, the top Belgian talent defeated Englishman Mason Teese 6-1. Paeshuyse particularly impressed in that final and finished with an average of 88. For his victory, he received a check worth 800 euros. With his victory, Paeshuyse follows in the footsteps of Luke Littler, who won the tournament two years ago.

In addition to his title at the Winmau World Masters, Paeshuyse also managed to qualify for the upcoming Youth World Championship at the WDF through the qualifying tournament. That will take place from Nov. 29 to Dec. 8 at the iconic Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green.
By the way, not only Paeshuyse was successful along the Belgian side, Jentl Fransen also managed to qualify for the youth World Championships with the girls.
