Barry Hearn not stopping despite retiring as PDC Chairman: "I'm trying to retire but I'm not very good at it"

The now retired, former PDC Chairman and founding member, Barry Hearn was back at the darts last weekend in New York for the US Darts Masters and he admits he's struggling with retired life.

"I'm trying to retire but I'm not very good at it," he tells Online Darts from Madison Square Gardens in New York. "The thing is, you miss so much of the fun by not being involved," Hearn says with a wry smile.

"I'm sure they don't need me you know. They run the operation not me but they still give me a free ticket. I feel I should take advantage of it," continues Hearn. "I'm 50 years a sports promoter, you can't give it up just like that. It's in your blood."

The continued growth of the sport in the U.S.A is also something that Hearn is really happy to see. "It's not going to be too long before we're selling out the main arena," he says. "Forget Anthony Joshua, forget Katie Taylor it's all about the darts in New York."
