Humphries ended up in hospital in Leverkusen with food poisoning: ''Will take a few days to recover''

Luke Humphries had to suddenly cancel his match against Brendan Dolan at the European Darts Open in Leverkusen on Saturday night.

The PDC cited ''medical reasons'' as the reason for Humphries' withdrawal. A day later, Humphries came out with a further explanation. It turned out he had eaten something wrong.

''I was seen by medics at the venue that advised me to go to the hospital, which I did. I have been diagnosed with food poisoning and it will take a few days to recover from'', Humphries said on Twitter.

I was terribly ill all day, and looking forward to recovering. Thanks to the PDC for looking after me so well, and being there for me. Also thanks to the Leverkusen hospital who were absolutely amazing with me. And off course Modus Darts (management) for getting me home'', he added.
