Humphries holds off surge from Van der Voort to complete Last 16 at PDC World Darts Championship

Luke Humphries is through to the Last 16 of the 2022/23 PDC World Darts Championship after a 4-3 sets win with a 96.5 average and eight 180's to complete the Last 16 line-up.

Humphries went 2-0 up but Van der Voort surged back with two consecutive sets before 'Cool Hand Luke' swept the final set to seal the win. He will face Stephen Bunting.

Humphries took a flying start to the tie breezing through the opening two sets with a 105 checkout en route being the highlight for ‘Cool Hand Luke’.

Van der Voort went 2-0 up in the third set as he looked to stop the cruise control but double 15 after 123 was missed to go 2-1 down saw Humphries look to send it to a decider.

Humphries missed 130 on the bull for 2-2 but Van der Voort missed 108 and the former returned for double eight to send it all the way.

A set dart was missed by Humphries and Van der Voort pinned double 16 to make it 2-1 down. Humphries missed 81 for a 2-0 lead and Van der Voort held on double 16 at 1-1.

Van der Voort missed 130 on the bull for a break and Humphries busted. He handed Van der Voort a break opportunity that he took on double eight.

Van der Voort missed 81 on the bull but got another chance to hold for 2-2 in sets which he took on double eight. A 143 from Van der Voort saw him lead.

A 72 checkout from Humphries saw him send it all the way and he pinned double 10 for the set and a 3-2 sets lead.

A 70 checkout saw Humphries lead in the sixth set. He missed 116 on double 20 and Van der Voort hit a 60 checkout but Humphries went one away from the victory.

Van der Voort though sent it all the way at 3-3 in sets. Humphries though surged away again with a 140 checkout. A 79 checkout saw him finish it.
