Rob Cross has qualified for the third round of the World Darts Championship. 'Voltage' was too strong for Thibault Tricole in his opening match 3-0.
Cross looked back on his victory afterwards with mixed feelings however. "Performance-wise, I'm not very happy," admitted the 33-year-old Englishman. "It got better in the last set but I was more enthused by the crowd today, I thought they were amazing. When I came out they were all chanting. I got sucked into that and before you know it, I forgot to play darts."
Cross will take on the winner of the duel between Jeffrey de Graaf and José de Sousa in the next round. "Couldn't care. Both quality players, Jeffrey has been away from the scene for a little while and Jose can either be brilliant or normal but for me, it's all about my own performance. I believe I'm going to beat anyone in the tournament."
Cross also had time for a word about the new darting sensation, 16-year-old Luke Littler. "That boy doesn't need any advice. What I would say is, just follow your path and wherever it's going to lead, it's going to lead. It's written in the stars and you can't fight fate."
