Scott Williams provided a shock in the second round of the World Darts Championship. The 33-year-old Englishman defeated seventh seeded Danny Noppert 3-0.
"I'm obviously really happy. Gutted about the nine, but I won the game and that's what we're here to do," said Williams in his post-match press conference, referencing the fact he missed double 18 for the first nine-dart finish at this year's Championships. "Everyone knows that Danny can do better. But he's had a lot of family time with the new baby and everyone knows what babies are like, they're hard work!"
'Shaggy' will take on the winner of the duel between Martin Schindler and Jermaine Wattimena in the next round. "I've got to bring out my good game, bring out the maximums and the checkout percentage that I did tonight because 50% is going to win you most games."
Williams looks toward the remainder of the World Championship with great confidence. "I feel good up on the stage. I handle myself well and I just enjoy it. I try not to give it too big but at the same time, you have to enjoy yourself. If you don't enjoy yourself, what's the point in being there?"
