Ross Smith was superb in spells as he produced an almighty comeback to dump out Joe Cullen coming from 4-2 down to win 6-4 at the
European Championship.
At times, Smith wasn't doing a lot wrong and was lamenting his luck but said it wasn't about the display and was about getting over the winning line.
"I was really happy with how I played to be fair but in the game, it was hit and miss. I think I had a couple of really good legs to pull it back to 4-4 but overall, it's not always about the performance it's about the win," said Smith to Online Darts.
This continues the progression of 'Smudger' who off the back of a title winning year had a poor start to 2022 and he said that he is now in a good place and ready to progress.
"I had a real bad start to the year, first 4-5 months. It felt like two years to be fair. I don't know how I managed to turn it around. I've sort of saved my season, I don't know how I've done it as it was so bad. My life is on track and I'm in a happy place."
"It is that consistency, I've been saying it for three years and it's draining as I just want to progress. I'm doing my best and I'm trying different things and hopefully it will kick in."
