"I think Chizzy is there for the taking" - Daryl Gurney growing in confidence at the World Darts Championship

Daryl Gurney has reached the last sixteen at the World Darts Championship. 'Superchin' was too strong for Ricky Evans in the third round 4-2.

Gurney, however, had to come back from a 2-1 deficit in sets. "I think everybody knows I'm not a player that always comes from behind and I was always behind in that game until I took out the 164 to go three two up in sets," he refects post-match. "This is a big difference from before, the old Daryl would never have won a game like tonight."

"I thought to myself, 'just hang in there don't you dare get nervous,'" continues Gurney. "It was just a strange game, but very glad that I've got over the finish line."

Gurney will take on Dave Chisnall at the last 16 and it's fair to say that 'Superchin' is growing in confidence. "I think Chizzy is there for the taking," he says bullishly. "I feel I'm in the best form of my life. I feel like he's on the floor, in the best form of his life but on TV not so much," referencing Chisnall's string of early exits in majors throughout the calendar year.
