Danny Noppert bitterly regretted his defeat against Gerwyn Price in the first round of the
World Grand Prix on Monday night. 'The Freeze' lost 2-0 in sets to the Welshman.
Noppert left it mostly in the first set. Price did not start the match well, but Noppert failed to take the fourth leg to win the first set. Price then equalized via a 101 finish and then took the set with a 16-darter. The second set was then a 3-0 win for 'The Iceman'.
''This is very disappointing,'' Noppert responded afterwards at Viaplay. ''I just have to take that first set to me. He throws a very mediocre first set, but so do I. But yeah, what do you do going there? I was fighting, but I just couldn't get it over the line.''
''I wasn't myself today and that's very unfortunate. Why is that? The preparation was fine, but I just didn't have my day,'' concluded the 32-year-old darter from Joure.
