Kenny looks back a year on from winning Tour Card at Q-School: “I just went off like a steam train”

A year on from his triumph at Q-School, Nick Kenny spoke to the Inside the WDF podcast to recount winning his PDC Tour Card.

“I’d sort of had a breakdown on the Saturday night, normally I’m bubbly and having a laugh but I thought I’m going to bed this is doing my head in,” said Kenny to Inside the WDF.

“I just thought on have one good day now, it was very early mornings, get preparation right and I just went for it. I had a tough first round draw. That’s one of the things I’ve learnt about myself this year, when I have a tough draw I know I have to play well but sometimes I’m thinking it’s subconsciously.”

“The hardest draw out of my four days was the last day and once I’d rolled over a couple and that good game against Jim, I just went off like a steam train. I seemed to get into that run.

In his final match to get his Tour Card, he averaged 110 in the process against Scott Taylor which he is of course ‘proud’ of.

“Especially under the pressure I’m quite proud of that really when the game to get your Tour Card is the best recorded game I’ve ever played in my life. You can’t really do anything better than that.
