The Darts Regulation Authority has fined
Kim Huybrechts £1,500 and issued a formal warning. That is the verdict of the disciplinary committee following an investigation launched after
Dimitri van den Bergh and
Mike De Decker filed a complaint against their compatriot.
Van den Bergh had filed a complaint just prior to the much-discussed
World Cup of Darts in June. During Belgium's first match, Van den Bergh and Huybrechts did not give each other a glance.
According to reports by Het Nieuwsblad, a 'threatening' comment made by Huybrechts was behind it. "Mike, who knows you might still throw the World Cup this year. You never know when someone falls down the stairs," Huybrechts allegedly said in front of De Decker.
In November, a complaint was also filed by De Decker himself against Huybrechts. After finishing a floor tournament, both players were waiting for their transportation to the airport. There, Huybrechts allegedly slapped Decker's face. Het Nieuwsblad has a video of the skirmish that followed.
Huybrechts behaved aggressively and inappropriately, according to the disciplinary committee. So in addition to the 1,500-pound fine, he also received a formal warning. That means Huybrechts faces a suspension if another incident occurs.
