Raymond van Barneveld thumped Daryl Gurney in a six leg blitz to set up a clash with Gerwyn Price at the Czech Darts Open. He is into the European Championship and is in a good place.
Speaking after his win, he spoke about how he has changed his set up as well as how he has adapted mentally with his life now very much not a problem off the oche and he is enjoying who he is as a person.
"It was weird. I was playing the last few months with the largest set up. I was practicing and I took the short set up with shorter stems and flights and it went well. I was walking back if I hit a 180 now I'll use this and I hit a 180," said Van Barneveld.
"The first two legs were a bit dodgy, maybe at the end Daryl didn't show up and didn't play his A-game but that's part of the whole circuit. We're travelling all over Europe. ProTours, EuroTours, it's hard. Last week he had a good run at the World Grand Prix, I didn't. So I had much time to spend time with my wife and family. First of all I'm enjoying Prague (crowd cheer)."
"I told my wife, we're going to go to Prague to enjoy and we're going to play darts so if it doesn't happen, we still go around and do sightseeing. I love this. I look in the mirror the other week and think I'm a really happy guy."
"To play and perform for these crowds every single week is a privilege. If you enjoy, you can do it all."
Going into that Price clash, he has the belief to really turn it on. "It's a crazy game. Everyone can beat each other now. I saw Joe Cullen got beat to a Host Nation Qualifier. Everything can happen right now. I can't underestimate Gerwyn Price of course, he's a quality player. If I do what I can do, I can't see why I can't win my next game. Why not."
