Luke Humphries sees impressive run on European Tour come to an end despite victory at German Darts Grand Prix

Fabulously, Luke Humphries won the German Darts Grand Prix last Monday. He defeated Michael van Gerwen in the final 8-1 with an average of 112.

In four of his five matches, the Englishman threw in an average above 100. This only failed in his semifinal against Gerwyn Price (7-3), when his performance fell just short and ended at 99.93, in turn ending a long series.

Indeed, Humphries had thrown an average above 100 in fourteen consecutive Euro Tour matches prior to that semi-final. This run started at the Hungarian Darts Trophy in September 2023, after which Humphries also managed to throw purely 100-plus averages at the German Darts Championship 2023 and Belgian Darts Open 2024.

The reigning world champion added three more 100-plus averages to this string at the German Darts Grand Prix, including a 111.63 showing from his match against Ryan Joyce in the third round of the Euro Tour tournament in Munich.
