Mal Cuming will be playing his first ever PDC World Darts Championship match in the next couple of weeks where he will face Alan Soutar in his first game. The Australian has been speaking to 'TungstenTales' about his thoughts ahead of his World Championship debut.
“I’m excited but I’m still waiting for it to sink in, but I think when I hit the plane and head over It will be a great feeling. To be able to walk into Alexandra Palace, the biggest stage of them all, is going to be a huge buzz.”

He might have made it to the Palace however getting there wasn't an easy ride.
“I had an up and down day at the Oceanic Masters, I had a tough draw all the way to the final. If I’m honest I didn’t know I’d won when I had because I thought it was best of five sets when actually it was best of three but when it sunk in it was an incredible feeling.”
The World Championships may be new to him however he believes that his experience in the World Series could stand him in good stead.
“Playing in the World Series is the first time I’ve done it, theres a few things I did that I won’t be at Ally Pally. I was actually listening to the crowd at some stage instead of concentrating on my game - so hopefully I won’t be doing that.”
“But overall the experience of how the PDC runs, knowing behind the scenes and how everything works, it will make life a lot easier when we go to Alexandra Palace.”
Cuming concluded the interview making sure everyone knew the Australians intentions for the competition.
“To make the stage is a big thing but that's not where I want to be, I want to push myself to the limits and get past the first round if possible. I just want to generally see how far I can go and I know I can play a good game if my mind is on it. I know I can push for the best- I’m not there for the money I’m there for the game.”
