Ryan Searle pulled off a slight shock in the second round of the
World Matchplay. 'Heavy Metal' sent second-seeded Peter Wright home 11-8.
"It's obviously nice grind out a win like that because a lot of games like that I lose," Searle opened. "So it's nice to miss a few doubles here and there and still scrape through."
With the top four seeded players now out of the tournament, this opens up opportunities for the rest of the field of participants. Having reached a major final once before (Players Championship Finals 2021) Searle is confident. "There's not anyone left that I haven't beaten before," he says.
Hotel problem
In the quarterfinals, Searle will take on Jonny Clayton. "I enjoyed playing Jonny it's always a good game. There's no messing, he just likes to get on with," says Searle before revealing he does have one problem to sort out. "We only booked Friday to Friday. But it's a nice problem to have, hopefully we can extend our stay, if not we'll have to find somewhere else!"
