Michael van Gerwen still managed to get through a potentially tough match easily on Saturday night. He defeated
Fallon Sherrock 5-1 to immediately take the lead in his pool.
The 34-year-old played an excellent match against the "Queen of the Palace. With an average of 101 and a finishing percentage of 71 percent, he left Sherrock in the dust.
Van Gerwen was warned just before the match that he had to be alert against Sherrock. ''At the bull up, she hit the bull straight away, then you know you have to be sharp. She showed that in the match, but at certain moments I was just too strong."

In recent weeks he has been struggling regularly with gout attacks something which Vincent van der Voort also revealed on the Viaplay coverage.
''It's been bothering me for a long time. I'm actually completely done with it. I have good medication, but it's not really working yet. It's frustrating. I can't do anything about it. We also have to deal with the doping authority, so we can't just take everything,'' Van Gerwen said.
