Nathan Aspinall managed to give solid resistance to an out-and-out Rob Cross for a long time Thursday night, but eventually had to concede defeat in the second round of the
Grand Slam of Darts.
Thanks to a 61.5 percent finish percentage, Aspinall threw an average of 103 per turn. Opponent Cross threw well above 105+ average for much of the match, but ended up with a moyenne of 104 per turn. The win went 10-8 to "Voltage.
Aspinall could ultimately live with his result, according to his post on Facebook. He hopes to show the same form next month at the World Darts Championship. ''Fought till the end. Now it's time for a solid four weeks practice and take last nights form in to the World Championship," Aspinall wrote.
The Englishman will not compete in the Players Championship Finals at the end of November. He did not manage to qualify for this, although 'The Asp' skipped quite a few tournaments during the qualification race. Aspinall wanted to attend the birthday party of his partner, whose birthday is during the tournament weekend of the Players Championship Finals.
