Stephen Bunting has qualified for the
Grand Slam of Darts for the fifth time in his career. Last week, 'The Bullet' was one of the winners at the Tour Card qualifying tournament. In the group stage, Bunting will face Peter Wright, Dave Chisnall and Stowe Buntz.
During the qualifying tournament, he defeated Luc Peters (5-1), Arron Monk (5-3) and Martin Schindler (5-2). Against Schindler, Bunting even threw an average of 111 including an 11-darter and a 13-darter, among others.
''Qualifying for the Grand Slam means the absolute world to me," the 38-year-old Englishman said on his own website. ''It’s such a difficult tournament to get into and I’m thrilled to be there again.''
Bunting has competed in the Grand Slam of Darts four times before. The former Lakeside champion recorded his best result on his debut in 2014. ''I reached the quarter-finals but since that, I’ve only managed to get out of the group stage twice. However, at the moment, I feel my game is in a really good place so I’ve never been in a better position to go all the way."
