From November 7 to 10, 24 German darters will compete in the PDC Europe Super League in Bitburg, Germany, for a place at the PDC World Championships at Alexandra Palace.
The tournament begins with four groups of six players. During the first two tournament days, players play twice against the other players in their group. After these games, the two worst-performing players drop out. The remaining sixteen players continue in a elimination schedule. The final sixteen will take place on Nov. 9, after which the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals will be played consecutively on Nov. 10.
Recently, the draw was made for this event. In this article, we take a look at the players in Group B. It is the pool of
Niko Springer,
Nico Kurz,
Rene Eidams, Steffen Siepmann, Manfred Bilderl and Markus Kessler.
Nico Kurz already managed to win the PDC Europe Super League twice. As a relatively unknown player, he qualified for the World Darts Championship in 2019, where Kurz then caused a sensation with victories over James Wilson and Joe Cullen. In 2020, Kurz was again the winner of the German qualifying tournament.
Niko Springer was last year's losing finalist at the PDC Europe Super League. Springer made two appearances on the Euro Tour this year and even managed to reach the last sixteen once. The 23-year-old German did not play on the Development Tour, where Springer reached two finals last year.
Rene Eidams has also won the PDC Europe Super League before. He was the best in 2015. That was not only eight years ago, but also quite a few pounds ago. Eidams has undergone a huge transformation since then and has lost a tremendous amount of weight. This year, Eidams managed to take a weekly title at the MODUS Super Series, qualified for one Euro Tour and was once in the last sixteen on the Challenge Tour.
Steffen Siepmann held a PDC Tour Card in 2020 and 2021, although it did not prove successful. On the Pro Tour, Siepmann recorded only five wins at Players Championship tournaments in two seasons.
Manfred Bilderl qualified for this PDC Europe Super League by qualifying in the last sixteen last year. That round was also his final round. Finally, Markus Kessler is also in this pool. He was recently one of the winners at the qualifying tournaments for participation in this competition.
