James Wade finally ended a period of almost five years without a nine-darter at the World Championship on Tuesday afternoon. The Machine threw a perfect leg in his third round match against Stephen Bunting.
Where Gary Anderson earned £15,000 in extra prize money five years ago in 2016 with his nine-dart finish, Wade now gets nothing for his perfect leg.
Since 2019, no extra amount has been paid out at the PDC for throwing a nine-darter because the prize money has risen considerably over the years.
In addition to missing out on the cash bonus, Wade also lost his match against Bunting. As a result, the left-handed darter is left with £ 25,000 for his participation in this World Championship.
