19-year-old
Beau Greaves has a firm grip on women's darts. She is stringing together successes and is proving almost unbeatable for her competitors.
Greaves, nicknamed "Beau 'n Arrow," won 11 of 16 tournaments on the PDC
Women's Series this season and was also the best at the Women's World Matchplay in Blackpool last month.
"I played all year to get there and I was so happy to come out the winner. Hopefully next year I will play better and retain it." said the Doncaster-based player in an interview with ITV.
In the past 12 months, Greaves has won 16 of 21 tournaments. In fact, from August 2022 to February 2023, she was undefeated seventy matches in a row.
"When I got to the end of the winning streak I was ready for it to end. It was brilliant while it was going, I was playing well but it comes to a point where it has to end and it ended at a good time and I am looking now to hopefully doing it again."
Despite her tremendous success, Greaves admits that she rarely practices and prefers to hone her skills by playing real matches. "The past nine years have been the best times of my life. I am so lucky. I have travelled places and played some really good darts. I am lucky to be able to do all this so young," she says. "When I was younger I used to practice a lot but now I am lucky if I do 10 minutes a day."
Later this year, Greaves may compete against men at the
Grand Slam of Darts and the World Darts Championship. ''Not my favourite thing,'' she says of the fact that she will be playing against men there but she would “love to see” women emerge victorious from such matches.
