The start of the
World Darts Championship is getting closer and closer. The annual darts spectacle at Alexandra Palace begins on Dec. 15, while the draw will be held on Nov. 27.
According to Daily Star,
Phil Taylor has been appointed to help conduct the draw. This fulfills a big wish of the 16-time world champion.
The British tabloid writes that the Taylor has indicated he would like to take on this ceremonial role at sports broadcaster Sky Sports. That wish has now been granted by the PDC.
“If (PDC president) Barry Hearn wants me to do it, I’ll be there," said Taylor.
“As a player, I achieved just about everything you could dream of winning, and I didn’t leave anything on the oche knowing I could have done better. But if there’s one wish I could be granted, it would be to do the world championship draw - where the destiny of the next champion is literally in my hands.
“That would be a special honour for an old stager like me. And it would be a nice way to mark 30 years since Dennis and I competed in that first PDC final - although we could not have dreamed what we were launching and how big it would become.”
