Despite recent form woes and nearly letting it slip against
Krzysztof Ratajski,
Peter Wright who won the title in 2020 is through to the Quarter-Finals of 2024
Masters which is set to take place on Sunday.
Wright looked to be cruising and went 6-0 up and also at the verge at 8-3, but 'The Polish Eagle' punished a wobble and made it interesting only for the former to seal it 10-8 and hold on to reach the latter stages. Now Luke Humphries or Stephen Bunting await.
It was a poor start from Ratajski as he gifted Wright a 3-0 lead with an 84 checkout for a second break of throw. The wasteful streak of Ratajski continued into the interval as he squandered four darts at doubles and Wright punished pinning double 20 to make it 5-0 with a 97.6 average and 5/7 on the doubles.
Wright made it six on the spin, but it wasn't to be anymore as Ratajski finally got off the mark with an 82 checkout. He missed double 16 and Ratajski hit 86 on the bull to trail 6-2. Ratajski though continued to miss chances and Wright didn't as Wright sailed into an 8-3 lead.
But it was Wright's turn to go off the boil just as it looked like he was heading towards the win as Ratajski made it 8-7 from 6-0 down suddenly. Wright went to the brink, but Ratajski kept his hopes alive. Only for 'Snakebite' to finally fall over the line with an 80 checkout on double 20.
