Gerwyn Price produced a brilliant display reeling off 12 legs in a row after a slow start to down Dirk van Duijvenbode and reach the Quarter-Finals of the PDC
World Darts Championship.
Price will now face Michael Smith after a tie with Jonny Clayton was highly touted and he said after losing the first set, he felt comfortable.
"I feel really good. I feel for the next four sets, I played really well but in the words of Richie Burnett, I should have won that 5-0. But I bust the double 10, lost the first set and after that, I felt really comfortable. Dirk didn't play his A game but I was close to mine," said Price post match.
Fear factor
He was asked about the fear factor returning towards the back end of tournaments and he said he knows he has to always raise his level.
"I know in tournaments that I bring my best stuff from the Quarters on, that was the Last 16 so hopefully my game goes up. It needs to go up obviously for the next round, if I can raise it an extra 5-10% every round, I'm sure I'll raise the trophy at the end."
He made comments saying the tournament should be postponed on his Instagram which he said he'd agree with if it did.
"It's hard work to get these tournaments on and the PDC and everybody else involved they do a fantastic job. It needs to be finished but if it did get postponed, I'd agree."
For Price when asked if there would be an asterisk by it if he won it due to all the withdrawals, he said his family being there is the main aspect.
"It's nice to win with the crowd but the main thing is that my family is here. If I win it, that'd be the special part."
