Raymond van Barneveld was the best at an exhibition tournament in the German city of Frankfurt last Saturday. Over four thousand darts fans in attendance saw 'Barney' win over world champion Luke Humphries in the final of the Gude Darts Open.
The field of participants consisted of eight players. They were divided into two pools of four players each. Van Barneveld managed to win in the group stage against Oliver Müller (3-2), John Henderson (3-0) and Gabriel Clemens (3-1). Henderson advanced to the semifinals as the runner-up.
In the other group, Luke Humphries won his matches against Fallon Sherrock (3-0), Dirk van Duijvenbode (3-2) and Joe Cullen (3-2). Van Duijvenbode finished in second place in Group B after victories over Cullen (3-0) and Sherrock (3-1).
In an all-Dutch semi-final, Van Barneveld then proved too strong for Van Duijvenbode, 3-1. Humphries became the second finalist after a 3-0 win over Henderson. Van Barneveld then recorded a 3-1 win over Humphries in the final.
