Ricardo Pietreczko has qualified for the second round on his
World Darts Championship debut. 'Pikachu' was too strong for Mikuru Suzuki in his opening match 3-0.
"My performance it was not the best but I can play much better" said Pietreczko, who posted an average of 92.37. "It's very nice to win my debut. Every player dreams of playing in the World Championship."
Pietreczko was public enemy number one with the crowd at the past Grand Slam of Darts after attempting to ward off the barrage of support for Beau Greaves, so he headed to Alexandra Palace with some anxiety. "I had a little bit of panic, but it's all good with the fans and with the crowd. I hope in the next games it's also good."
"My reaction at the Grand Slam of Darts was spontaneous, I try my best to keep smiling on the stage."
Pietreczko will take on 30th-seeded Callan Rydz in the second round. "I think I can beat anybody and I'm here to win the tournament, every tournament. If I go to a tournament, I think I will win it."
