In a scrappy affair, New Zealand returned to the
World Cup of Darts stage to seal a 5-3 win over Switzerland and move into the second round.
With a lack of stage time in recent years, both saw that as the difference maker and one they can now utilize to move forward.
"We get rare opportunities, it's quite nerve wracking when you get up there as it's so long in between and we didn't really settle," said Robb to Online Darts.
"Pairs is different. You have the feeling you don't want to let your mate down and you start not hitting trebles and the anxiety lifts a bit but I felt like we'll be alright."
"I think both teams made it as hard as each other. That first leg missing so many darts at a double," said Parry.
"It's our first time ever playing together. I totally enjoyed it and onto the next one."
World Series of Darts
One aspect of darting life they have missed out on is the World Series of Darts which returns this year which Robb believes could hold the key to an emergence in New Zealand.
"Our World Championship is pretty much the World Series, that's our players opportunity to have a go on the stage. We've gone nearly three years without it, that inspires the guys with potential to have a go and when they're not seeing opportunities, they go back into their shells but I think the World Series coming back will really motivate the guys back home to get back into it," continued Robb.
"We've got a lot of talent, we just need the opportunity for the boys to show it. It's been so long since Wazza has been on TV, I think the first round we've got past it and we know what to expect now."
