Robert Owen victim of disgusting abuse during Gilding defeat: "Shouting chants about him being disabled"

Robert Owen had a tough time during his debut match at the PDC World Darts Championship. Due to being Welsh, 'Stack Attack' received abuse from the crowd which saw him give it back on each big moment.

But this abuse given from the crowd seemingly crossed the line with Robert Owen's wife Robyn saying that disabled chants were aimed at the former UK Open semi-finalist and that they wouldn't be taking their kids who were there to further tournaments and she sees why there are age limits at others.

"It was my daughter that made me aware of it. I just couldn't get over the language/inappropriate chants especially when there were loads of kids in the arena," she said.

"I can see why there's restricted age limits in all the other tournaments now. Won't be taking them again in a hurry."

In sharing the tweets, darts commentator Chris Murphy also hit out against it. "Last year, Gerwyn Price's wife and children had to sit and listen to relentless abuse. It's a disgusting stain on all of those who engage in it."
