Scotland put a brutal end to France's participation in the
World Cup of Darts. Jacques Labre and Thibault Tricole were slaughtered 8-0 by
Peter Wright and
Gary Anderson.
This brought a disappointing end to the French's otherwise excellent performance at the Nations tournament. They dealt with Northern Ireland (4-1) and Ukraine (4-0) in the group stage, while in the last 16 they were too strong for South Africa 8-4.
Against the Scottish world champions, however, almost nothing worked. The French did not throw a single 180 score and missed all their six darts on the doubles. Scotland countered with an average of 89.07 and a 53 per cent finishing percentage.
Things already went wrong in the first leg for France, which missed three darts to make it 0-1. Without any problems, Wright and Anderson then ran out to a 5-0 lead.
In the sixth leg, the French had another chance, but again three doubles were missed. Scotland brought the score to 6-0 via double 10 and then ran out to an 8-0 victory.
