The winner of the inaugural Women's World Matchplay last year, Fallon Sherrock will be the favourite to retain her title if she makes it back to the Winter Gardens according to Matthew Edgar.
"I think there's been a lot of distractions and she's been a victim of her own success in that sense," says Edgar. "But recently I've been talking to Fallon quite a bit when she's done a few exhibitions with me and she's said she really putting in the work."
As mentioned, Sherrock took the title at the first ever Women's World Matchplay in Blackpool last year. Edgar believes it could be her time to shine yet again in 2023.
"I have also seen how much bottle she has and that she is keen to put on a good performance, hundred averages. The fact that Beau Greaves has been doing so well in recent months has also made Fallon stronger."
Sherrock was also recently awarded and MBE by the King. "I was actually with her when it was announced and her first reaction was, 'Why me?' She was obviously very pleased though and it only motivates her even more to help put women's darts on the map."
Fallon Sherrock has been awarded an MBE in the 2023 King's Birthday Honours list to recognise her services to the sport of darts.
