The final is set at Players Championship 27 and it is one no-one would've been expecting even at the semi-final stage in Barnsley.
Connor Scutt will face Radek Szaganski shortly and for both, it will be a crack at a maiden ranking title and it is their first final also. Szaganski has perhaps got closest of them all before reaching a semi-final in Leicester earlier this season.
He took out the latest first-time winner in Ricardo Pietreczko who would've been seeing today as a big chance of maybe sealing a second ranking title in a week, but he looked befuddled throughout his tie with the Pole as Szaganski kept taking out doubles and was hardly missing.
It finished 7-3 in the end and also gives Szaganski a big helping hand in the race to the World Championship. Same can be said for Scutt as Gian van Veen perhaps spurned his best chance of a maiden PDC title.
Van Veen looked sick to his stomach as Scutt hit the winning double to win it 7-5 after Van Veen had initially brought it back to 4-4. But in a week where Gary Anderson and Ryan Joyce have sealed titles, who seals the penultimate £12,000 in Barnsley ever with the Metrodome not on the calendar from next season?
