"So proud of myself" - Rob Cross believes in second world title after huge comeback

Rob Cross has qualified for the semifinals of the World Darts Championship after a real thriller. 'Voltage' pulled off a fabulous comeback to beat Chris Dobey 5-4 in the quarter-finals.

"I always believe," an emotional Cross reflected in his post-match press conference. "Saving grace for me was three legs to a set you know. So you take one, they go back to zero, they got to win another three but credit to Chris today, he was much more settled than me early. I got away with one."

"Chris started the match really well and deservedly took the lead. But I wasn't playing badly myself and the closer I got, the more I started to believe in it. With that wide lead I also started to play a little more relaxed, I had nothing left to lose and that definitely helped me. I have rarely been so proud of myself."

Cross was also reminded of his children during the race. "They had wished me good luck beforehand and those kind words stayed with me, it's also for them that I made such an effort," he recalls. "Special you know, just really special."

In the semifinals tonight, Cross takes on Luke Littler. "What a talent! He brings something extra to our sport, something refreshing. He has a great future, but hopefully this year it will be up to me to become world champion."
