Phil Taylor was best at the
European Championship four years in a row from 2008 to 2011. Statistics platform Darts Orakel has shared some statistics on 'The Power's' dominance during the early years of the European Championship.
The legendary darter from Stoke-on-Trent won all of his 20 matches without giving up a single match dart. Of the 267 legs Taylor played, he won 188, a staggering winning percentage of 70 percent.
In nineteen of the twenty matches the Englishman recorded an average of over one hundred, no less than thirteen of which even exceeded 105 per turn.
In the period from 2008 to 2011, Taylor's lowest tournament average was an incredible 104.29, while his highest tournament average at the 2009 European Championship was 111.54. That average is unsurprisingly still the highest tournament average by a winner at a PDC tournament. During that tournament, Taylor set averages of 111.03, 110.88, 118.14, 109.36 and 109.35, respectively.
