Today the World Grand Prix starts in Leicester. A special tournament, because unlike the other PDC majors, here you have to start and finish a leg with a double.
The fact that players have to start a leg with a double has a huge impact on the average. For example, last year the tournament average at the World Grand Prix was 87.94. When we compare that to the World Matchplay we see that the tournament average there was 96.12, a difference of no less than 8.37.

Comparing the last editions of the Grand Prix and World Matchplay as two events with similar fields, you can see a difference in the event averages of about eight points! #WorldGrandPrix
