Phil Taylor is the first winner of the new tournament format began by MODUS on Sunday called the Champions Series after claiming three consecutive victories in an impressive series from 'The Power'.
Taylor started off his campaign with a 98 average and a high checkout of 160 in seeing off Anastasia Dobromyslova to add points to the board after Martin Adams had initially topped the table.
'Wolfie' awaited the Stoke on Trent ace next and he produced the performance of the day to topple his fellow legend. Taylor averaged 110.8 in claiming a 5-3 victory with four 180's and en route even missed double 12 for a nine-darter.
A game highly touted before hand it lived up to expectation. As did his final game against Fallon Sherrock. The Queen of the Palace had lost out to Martin Adams in her opener before seeing off Anastasia Dobromyslova in a game which she won 5-0 despite having her dog not giving best of order at times.
The final game saw Taylor and Sherrock face off again and it was repeat for 'The Power' who claimed a 5-3 win with a 96 average and three 180's to win the first Champions Series.
