Although he may only be around eight months into his professional career, Luke Littler has had an impact on the sport of darts like few before him, quickly managing to transcend the sport and become a household name across the country.
So far in his career, Littler has played pretty much all the big names in today's darting world and beaten them. After reaching the final of the World Darts Championship on debut, 'The Nuke' finished top of the Premier League Darts league table in his debut campaign, before going on to lift his first major PDC title on finals night.
As such, in terms of dream matches left for Littler, there isn't too much remaining. In a recent Q & A on his official Instagram account, Littler was asked about this very topic. "There's only one I would like to have a game against and that is Phil Taylor," answered the 17-year-old intriguingly, opening the door to a potential battle of the generations between himself the legendary 16-time champion of the world.
This isn't the first time the potential has touted either. Although Taylor is retired from the professional circuit and, by the end of the year, will also be retired from the World Seniors Darts Tour, the 64-year-old has spoken himself about the prospect of facing Littler. "I'd play him in an exhibition, yeah," the darting G.O.A.T. said in conversation with TalkSPORT earlier this year. "One leg of 301, I go first!"
Whilst there is no news how genuine the likelihood of a matchup is at this time, if a Littler vs Taylor exhibition were to ever take place you can almost guarantee it would be a sell out wherever it may occur. With Littler's latest comments possibly the biggest, never before seen, darts match could now be one step closer.
