From 16 to 24 July the
World Matchplay 2022 is set to take place. To get you warmed up for this tournament, we look back at some past moments of the World Matchplay.
Raymond van Barneveld's highlight of the 2010 World Matchplay was his ninth dart against Denis Ovens. It was his fifth nine-dart finish in a televised tournament.
The doyen of Dutch Darts threw the 9-darter in traditional fashion. Van Barneveld started with two maximum scores and then polished off 141 via triple 20, triple 19 and double 12.
The five-time world champion had little to fear from his opponent in this match. Denis Ovens was pushed aside with 10-1. Later on 'Barney' would also win against Alan Tabern (13-5), Co Stompé (16-12) and James Wade (17-8), before losing to Phil Taylor (18-12) in the final.
