Van Barneveld takes advantage of late call-up with Burton win as Clemens completes epic comeback at International Darts Open

The opening day of action is complete at the International Darts Open with Raymond van Barneveld, Ross Smith and Gabriel Clemens finding their way through to Saturday's line-up in Riesa.
Van Barneveld had a late call-up to this weekend's European Tour due to withdrawals and took it to his advantage with a 6-3 win with a high checkout of 157 en route. He will now face Martin Schindler tomorrow.
While Clemens produced an epic comeback to end the night and delight the home crowd. After being on the end of one last week to Ian White, he came from 5-2 down to edge past Simon Whitlock 6-5 who was left shell shocked by 'The German Giant'.
This either side of a victory for Ross Smith who saw off Paavo Myller who impressed on his European Tour debut but fell 6-3 with five 180's for 'Smudger'.
