Dimitri van den Bergh took out the defending champion Jonny Clayton at the World Grand Prix in Leicester as he reaches the Quarter-Finals for the first time.
Van den Bergh sealed a 3-2 sets win in another tie that went all the way with an 89 average, four 180's, four ton plus checkouts and 54.5% on finishing doubles.
"I had a few opportunities earlier in the game that I could dominate and didn't and Jonny (Clayton) did what he did like I know him, he just slips in takes the chances. I felt a whole load of emotions, being nervous, being confident, being happy, being stressed and frustrated and all that. That was all part of that game," said Van den Bergh post match.
He spoke about hearing shouts of Dimitri van den Bergh, he's one of our own with the Belgian living down the road while in the UK and this helps with his campaign.
"Anybody who can sleep in their own bed before playing a tournament is very much happy because they know they're going to get their sleep so I'm very happy."
As of late, he has had health scares but confirmed he is fine now and everything came back clear.
"It was a scare 100% but right now I'm fine. I had my checkups, my blood came back. My doctor said to myself that it's a funny request but you've got to get a little bit more self belief in yourself because apparently everything in my body is fine so I think it's in the past now."
Next up is Peter Wright with the duo falling out at the World Matchplay but making up at the recent European Tour win for 'Snakebite' and Van den Bergh said if he's going to win, he will do it the hard way.
"It doesn't really matter as me and Peter will go up on that stage and we'll be going the best as we can, as good as we can as anybody. We're not focused on who's in front of us, we're focused on the game. I've got an extra day off then it's back to business, me, my game and self belief. Give it 100%."
"I'm only playing the best of the best, I'm not focused on who's ahead of me, I'm not scared of anybody my darts do the talking."
