Dimitri van den Bergh will face either his compatriot Kim Huybrechts or another meeting with Peter Wright, the defending champion after easing past Krzysztof Ratajski at the 2022/23 PDC World Darts Championship.
The first through to the latter stages, he averaged 92 with three 180's and 52% on the doubles in a 4-1 sets win.
Ratajski opened up with a hold of throw on double 16. A 72 checkout saw Van den Bergh level up. He missed 106 for the break but returned with 116 not able to be pinned to go 2-1 up.
Ratajski broke back though pinning double eight to force a decider where he’d have the throw. Van den Bergh missed 114 for the set but 108 was missed by Ratajski on double 16 and ‘The Dreammaker’ returned to slip into double six then onto missing double four.
But Ratajski missed a golden chance and the Belgian returned to hit double four last dart. Van den Bergh began set two with a 13-darter to hit double 16 and hold. He followed that up with a 180 and a 50 checkout to go one away.
He missed a 170 checkout but Ratajski missed 127 also on the bull and the Belgian made it 1-1 on double 15.
Van den Bergh missed a 170 again and Ratajski hit back with a 135 checkout to hold throw. Van den Bergh missed 127 to hold and Ratajski returned for double 20 to go one away from a set back. A 41 checkout saw Ratajski get a set back.
Van den Bergh hit double 16 to hold. He missed 99 on double 16 but with 164 not pinned, Van den Bergh returned to hold and go one away from 3-1. A 76 using 25 and Bull saw Van den Bergh seal it.
Van den Bergh hit a 52 checkout to make it 1-1. A 71 checkout saw Van den Bergh go one away and he was throwing for the win which he sealed on double 16.
